The show introduced K-drama fans to Kang In-ha (played by Lee Jun-young), the illegitimate son of the South Korean conglomerate — Kangoh Group. In the beginning, In-ha, who has been deprived of his share in the business, is shown teaming up with his smart childhood friend Han Tae-oh (played by Jae-wook) and the debt-ridden Na Hye-won (played by Hong Su-zu), to take back what is his. However, with each passing episode, the series is seen revealing the hidden personal motives of In-ha, Tae-oh and Hye-won.
In the finale episodes 11 and 12 of the Disney Plus K-drama, Tae-Oh finally succeeds in his mission to become the chairman of Kang Oh Group. He also manages to send friend-turned-foe In-ha to prison for his crimes. The K-drama ends on a bittersweet note, with Tae-oh realising how he had to give up on his loved ones to gain success.

Penned by Miss Butcher fame writer Choi Won, The Impossible Heir focuses on the story of three underdogs who join forces in an attempt to take over the largest conglomerate in South Korea.
The series has been directed by the visionary Korean director Min Yeon-hong, known for hit K-dramas like Missing: The Other Side (2020) and Insider (2022).
